Switching, calmly
Your society's app should work for your society. Not the other way around.
If your current app shows residents ads, confuses your parents, or bills in ways nobody can explain, switching is easier than your committee thinks.
The quiet costs of the typical society app
Most society apps are free or cheap for a reason: the residents are the product. Banner ads in the visitor feed, sponsored notifications, cross-sold services. Along the way the apps grew dashboards that younger residents tolerate and older residents abandon, which means half the society ends up outside the system it is paying for.
What we built instead
Ads-free, permanently
The society pays a transparent subscription. Nobody sees an ad, ever. That single decision changes how the whole product feels.
Every age group
Large type, one action per screen, a gate approval that is a single tap on a photo. Designed so grandparents use it unaided.
Your bye-laws, enforced
Charges, booking rules, deposits and penalties come from your registered bye-laws, configured per society, shown with their math on every bill.
White-glove switch
We load your flats, roster and opening dues for you. Residents log in with a phone number. Live in days.
Before you switch: the checklist
- Export your data early: flat register, resident roster, outstanding dues, vendor contracts.
- Close a billing cycle on the old system rather than migrating mid-month.
- Confirm the new platform carries your charge structure as-is (bases, funds, GST behaviour).
- Plan the resident switchover as one announcement with a working app, not a drawn-out overlap.
- Keep read-only access to the old system for one audit cycle.
Questions committees ask us
Is Basaira really free of ads?
Yes, permanently. Residents are our users, not our inventory. No banner ads, no sponsored notifications, no cross-selling of paint, loans or insurance inside your society's app. The society pays a transparent subscription; that is the whole business model.
Will our older residents manage the change?
This is a design goal, not an afterthought: large type, one clear action per screen, calm colours, and the gate flow works with a single tap. During onboarding we help every age group get set up, and guards get their own simple app in their language.
What happens to our existing data?
Onboarding is white-glove: we load your towers, flats, areas, resident roster, charge heads and opening dues for you. Committees hand us spreadsheets; residents just log in with their phone number.
How long does a switch take?
Days, not months. A typical society is live within a week of sharing its register, with both apps in residents' hands and the committee console running the first billing cycle.
Do we have to change our rules to fit the software?
The opposite. Your registered bye-laws become the configuration: your charges, your booking rules, your deposits, your notice periods. If your society bills per sq ft and holds a refundable banquet deposit, that is exactly what the app enforces.
