Privacy Policy
Basaira is a society-management service operated by Atharva Atelier ("we", "us"). It exists to run one thing well: the daily life of your housing society. This policy explains what information the service holds, why it holds it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what your society needs to operate, we never sell it, and we never use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Your identity in the society: name, phone number, flat and role (resident, committee member, guard or worker). Most of this is registered by your society when it onboards; residents confirm it at sign-in.
- Society records created as you use the app: visitor entries and passes (including photos captured at the gate), your flat's wallet ledger, amenity bookings, complaints and service jobs (including photos), notices, votes and emergency (SOS) alerts.
- Device information: a push-notification token so alerts can reach your phone, and crash reports (via Sentry) so we can fix failures.
- Website enquiries: if you ask for a demo on basaira.com, the name, phone number and society details you submit.
How it is used
Only to run the service: letting the gate verify visitors, keeping your society's money on an auditable ledger, managing bookings and complaints, delivering notifications you have a stake in, and responding to emergencies. We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it for marketing profiles.
Who can see what
Access follows your society's roles, enforced at the database level for every request. Residents see their own flat's records. Guards see what the gate needs, and resident phone numbers stay masked from staff; calls are placed without revealing the number. Committee and facility managers see the records their role requires. One society can never see another's data.
Service providers
A small set of processors help deliver the service: SMS delivery for one-time passwords (MSG91), push notifications (Apple and Google), and crash reporting (Sentry). Each receives only what its function needs, for example your phone number for an SMS, never your society records.
Security and retention
Data moves over TLS and lives behind per-society, per-role access rules enforced by the database itself. Society records are retained while your society uses Basaira and as required by law (a society's financial ledger, for instance, is a statutory record it must keep). Transient records such as gate photos are kept only as long as the entry log needs them.
Your choices and rights
You can access and correct your details in the app, and control notification permissions in your phone's settings. To delete your account, or to exercise any data right, write to us at the address below or ask your society office; we honour verified requests within 30 days, subject to records the society is legally required to keep. Grievances under Indian data-protection law go to the same contact.

Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new effective date, and material changes are announced in the app.
